Sarah Balkin is a Lecturer in English & Theatre Studies at the University of Melbourne, where she teaches courses on theatre and performance, modernism, and genre fiction. She has published essays and reviews in Modern Drama, Genre, Theatre Journal, and Public Books. In 2015 Sarah joined the editorial staffs of Theatre Research International and The Hoarding, a blog that reports on recent scholarship in nineteenth-century studies. She is currently at work on a monograph, "Occult Materials: Character on the Modern Stage."
