Christine Hansen has a PhD in History from the Australian National University. She was previously a curator in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program at the National Museum of Australia. Her post-doctoral research was on the history of Australian objects in European ethnographic museums, and the embedded discourses of race in contemporary exhibitions. She is currently a researcher in environmental history at Gothenburg University, Sweden, working on the Swedish Research Council funded project People of the Flume: fire and history in south-eastern Australia. She is also an associate of the Centre for Environmental History at ANU.

Hartmut Veit is currently a Masters of Fine Art (MFA) candidate at the University of Melbourne within the Faculty of the Victorian College of the Arts through the Centre for Cultural Partnerships. Informed by new materialist perspectives and sitespecific/responsive concerns his visual art and practice-led research interrogates coalʼs materiality in order to excavate and collaborate with its relational affects, political agency and performative power. His broad reflexive and emergent methodologies include anthropological fieldwork in Latrobe Valley communities living at the coalface of coal’s extraction in the aftermath of the Hazelwood Mine fire of 2014.
