Dr Bagryana Popov

Dr Bagryana Popov is a theatre artist and researcher who works in an interdisciplinary way. She has collaborated with acclaimed professional artists and communities. She is deeply interested in how artistic practice can speak about social and political reality in new poetic forms.  Most recent theatre works include The Button Event with Todd MacDonald (Brisbane Festival 2014), Dante’s Workshop at th ST Kilda Drop in Centre, Of Cows, Women and War with Ajak Kwai (La Mama 2014), Sarajevo Suite and most recently Uncle Vanya in Avoca, an associated event of the Castlemaine Festival 2015.
Her research interests include embodiment, political trauma, memory and representation, theatre and mental health, and performance creating connection to place. She is lecturer in Theatre and Drama at La Trobe University.
